Performance Diver NZ LTD was established in 1998 and has grown to become NZ's largest stockist of SCUBA and snorkelling gear. We're proud to be a PADI 5 Star IDC Development Centre, which means that we offer PADI courses at all levels from the beginners Open Water Course right through to training Instructors.

Our intrepid team of Rescue Diver students completed their course with Staff Instructor Jen in early October. Sunshine, rain, salt & freshwater gave our team a variety of challenges to deal with as they used their new skills throughout various scenarios – each one designed to test their ability to work as a team and deal with a diving emergency. Despite these challenges, their course was heaps of fun. The team were even lucky enough to have two large common dolphins come and check them out on day one! Perhaps the dolphins were coming to help with those rescue skills too?!…

You can watch some video of the dolphins, provided by Divemaster Trainee Steph, here. What an awesome first dive for these new #PADI divers! Our first Midweek Open Water course of the season was also a huge success. PADI MSDT Laura headed out with her (all female!) team of divers to complete their Open Water dives. Some of the students were…

Join Performance Diver Manager and IDC Staff Instructor Adam on a trip to one of the best wrecks in New Zealand. The Mikhail Lermontov was a massive ocean liner, with a total length of over 160m, who sunk in the picturesque Marlborough Sounds in 1986. The Mikhail Lermontov, or ‘Lermy’ to her friends, now sits on her Starboard side and is almost fully intact. She rests at a maximum depth of 35m and, thanks to her impressive size, comes up to 12m or so. The circumstances surrounding the sinking of the Lermontov are rather unusual and there is huge speculation and theories, even to…

Here at Performance Diver we decided to ignore the fact that PADI Womens Dive Day 2016 fell right in the middle of winter with an underwater photoshoot in the awesome heated pool at the Newmarket Olympic! Thanks to some generous sponsorship from the Olympic Pool & Fitness Centre, we were able to offer this event totally free and even give every participant a print of their very best shot! Our awesome team of Women Divers all hopped in and posed for some great shots, as well as playing with underwater fancy dress and generally having a great time! A special…
